A story on the environmental disaster of Ghana’s artisanal gold mining won him a SABEW award for best feature in 2019. He was on the investigations team for a series on abuses by the Nigerian military that was a 2024 Pulitzer Prize finalist.
He is also the author of ‘Lagos:Supernatural City’, an intimate portrait of the life in Africa’s biggest metropolis. He is a scholar of Oriel College, Oxford, and of the British Academy.
